Grow Wild Award @ The Water Works

Grow Wild Award @ The Water Works

On Tuesday 16 August the Water Works hosted guests from around the country to celebrate Grow Wild – our glorious benefactors- awarded the ‘Best Environment Project’ in the National Lottery Awards 2016. Amongst distinguished guests we had Anita Rani from BBC fame come along and do the presentation and some interviews.

Blazing sunshine, good chat, good scran. Awesome day!

Grow Wild voted Best Environment Project in the National Lottery Awards 2016!

After receiving an absolutely incredible 23,493 votes Grow Wild has won the 2016 National Lottery Award for Best Environmental Project!

We couldn’t be happier and would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who voted!

Winning is a brilliant recognition for all the hard work of everyone involved in Grow Wild – especially the thousands of volunteers all over the country, whose positivity and enthusiasm make brilliant projects come to life! Thank you all SOW much!

On Tuesday 16th August, we hosted a picnic at our Scotland flagship the Water Works site in Barrhead to celebrate the win! We invited people from community projects all over the country, who were interviewed by Country File presenter Anita Rani for the BBC!

The sun shone all day and it was a brilliant afternoon – with glitter, ping pong, a picnic and our wild flower people causing general flower-themed mayhem. Big shout out to Water Works project lead Mark Brand who was a massive help in making the day such a success!

Thanks so much to everyone who made it down! An especially big thank you to Tracey Rosean from community project Poppy Tales and her awesome kids Tyler, Liam and older sister Holly, as well as Pete Harrison from Artisan’s Collective – they all travelled all the way from North Wales. And thanks to Richard Searle who travelled all the way from Manchester with his bee keeping gear! What total stars!

Watch out for Grow Wild on The National Lottery Stars, broadcast on BBC One on September 12.
