We are into the later stages of autumn when nature goes into hibernation and things start to quieten down. However, behind the scenes at Water Works HQ (which is currently the Men’s Shed Roberston Street, Barrhead) plans are afoot for a community led ‘Water Works Action Group’ to bring forward a programme of events and activities for 2017 and beyond.
The Action Group is currently made up of various user groups and interested parties. We want this to be as inclusive as possible, allow people to have their say how the space is managed and take the lead using the space for events or activities.
As well as ongoing volunteering opportunities to keep the place ticking over, we are looking for local groups and organisations to take bring forward ideas and projects for the New Year. The Water Works is a community project, for the benefit of the community, and this is what we want to ensure going into the future.
We have a new Water Works Action Group Facebook page to help kick start things and keep everyone in the loop.
If you have any ideas, or are inspired to get involved, please get in touch. We want to hear from you!
We are in the process of planning our Burns Night event for Sunday 22 January and need volunteers, especially any budding Burns aficionados that might recite a poem, song or even a sonnet (or two).
