Water Work’s Eco festival & Growing Up Wild events

July saw the start of our self styled “Eco Festival”.

To kick things off Carlibar Family Centre come along to build our first Bug Hotel (or “Big Bug House” as it became known) . The group then set off to explore the diversity of bugs and beasties the wildflower garden has to offer under the auspices of our local ecology expert Jennifer.

We had some fab outdoor productions from Tenterhooks and their Call of Nature show and Eco Drama’s The Worm courtesy of the East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure team.

Around the same time we were delighted to have Jackie and the Outlet: Play Resource team on hand to help with our Growing Up Wild summer holiday activities. Following a series of outdoor events in the past there was clear demand for family friendly outdoor activities. The Outlet team did a fab job hosting different events as part of a dedicated play programme including natural play, musical workshops and more family orientated events such Teddy Bear’s picnic and storytelling.

As well as lots of happy people, we were thrilled to see the space being used in such a positive way, with different areas used for different types of play. This was something we always envisaged and was wonderful to see this come to fruition. Great effort all round!

If you have any ideas or want to get involved why not get in touch and help make things happen
